What we score and why
The angle of this site is file compatibility: whether the output of an AI PowerPoint generator becomes a real .pptx that a colleague can open in PowerPoint and edit. Design taste and prompt quality are not scored, because they change with the prompt and cannot be rechecked later. Route and documented limits can be checked against the vendor's own pages on the retrieval date.

Formula
Scores are rounded to one decimal. Native tools with no export step score 100 on limits by definition. Limits are counted from the vendor's help or pricing text as read on the retrieval date; vendor marketing copy that says "native" is counted as a claim, not as verified behaviour.
Tie-break
Equal totals are ordered by free access first (a free plan or trial that includes the export), then by route, then alphabetically. Under this rule SlidesAI ranks above Plus AI, and Plus AI above Microsoft Copilot in PowerPoint, which needs a licence to start.

Evidence and limits of this method
Every row cites vendor pages retrieved on 2026-10-17, and the comparison articles link each claim to its page. The publisher's background is on the about page. The limits are stated plainly: we have not generated the same deck in every tool and opened each file in PowerPoint for Windows and Mac, so claims that a file is native are scored as vendor-stated until a re-test is logged. The method is public so that a reader can recompute any row from the table above and the rules in this section.
